Limpopo’s Vhembe District Municipality has recently earmarked R3.5 million for high school leavers whose parents or guardians happen to be unemployed and are not able to find the funds to send them to tertiary institutions this coming year.
The deadline day for application submissions is 12 January.
“All of us would like to make an investment in the future and potential of promising students whose families happen to be too poor to pay for the costs of their education,” explained district mayor Falaza Mdaka.
He explained that the particular bursaries would definitely take care of tuition, text books and accommodation.
“Bursaries are readily available for high school students who would like to continue thier education in civil engineering, electrical, mining or chemical engineering, auditing, financial accounting, economics or business management within the sectors of tourism and agriculture,” Mdaka explained.
In exchange for benefiting from the bursaries, successful candidates are going to be required to work for the district municipality for no less than two years.
Application forms can be obtained at the municipality’s head office in Thohoyandou.
